A NEED FOR FUTURE LEADERS

At a time when the long-term care profession is facing significant increase in consumer demand, the available and qualified workforce is declining. While organizations are working to train current leaders through various programs, there is a need for development of future leaders. The long-term care profession is in desperate need of future leaders to promote the quality care of this population.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Future Leaders Program is to invest in and prepare promising individuals for successful leadership roles and expand their potential as a leader in the health care profession. This four-module program will provide a foundation for leadership development, crucial skills and a variety of resources in a supportive and encouraging environment.

AUDIENCE

The Future Leaders Program is appropriate for all individuals and organizations interested in leadership growth. This program is designed for both health professionals of any discipline including but not limited to new and senior staff; outstanding and challenging staff; nurses; care and nursing assistants; dietary staff; maintenance and environmental personnel; current supervisors and managers; and any staff that provide direct care, support or administrative duties.

FACILITATOR

Linda Lawther, MA, CALD, LNHA, President/CEO of the Michigan Center for Assisted Living (MCAL), will serve as the facilitator and participant mentor for this program.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

NHA: This program has been submitted for Continuing Education for 12 total participant hours from NAB/NCERS. Contact Kisti Boatright for further information.

AFC & CALD: This continuing education activity is also appropriate for adult foster care providers and certified assisted living directors for a recommended maximum of 12 clock hours of professional development.

MODULES

The Future Leaders Program is comprised of four modules that will take place over six months:

Module I: Leadership Defined
Module II: Self Assessment
Module III: Personal Leaders & Mentors
Module IV: My Future as a Leader

All modules will be provided virtually from 1:00-4:00 p.m. ET.

PROGRAM INCLUSIONS

Registration includes all required program/module materials such as handouts, books and movies.

Registrations will close for each program ten days before the pro-gram date to allow for mailing of materials for virtual participation.

Virtual Program Confirmations will include requirements for Virtual Participation.

Please Note: Participants will need to have an email address that is checked on a regular basis and internet access for ongoing email and forum based discussions in between modules. Participants will be required to complete reading/reviewing assignments in between modules

MCAL Member Rate: $350

Dietary Restrictions/Special Accommodations: Individuals with special dietary restrictions or who require special accommodations to fully participate in this program, should contact MCAL in writing by email to Kisti Boatright prior to the registration deadline detailing their need. Please indicate whether the dietary restriction is a preference, allergy or life-threatening allergy.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: All refund requests must be made in writing by email to Kisti Boatright. Telephone cancellations will NOT be accepted. Individual registration fees, less a 25% processing fee, will be refunded for cancellations received in writing prior to the registration deadline. Cancellations requests will be considered by MCAL President/CEO for determination on a case-by-case basis.

Substitutions: Individuals registered to attend this program, but unable to participate, may send an alternate in their place. Please email Kisti Boatright with the first and last name, title, and facility/company of both the original registrant and the alternate to process this request.

Consent to Use of Photographic Images: Registration and attendance at, or participation in, HCAM and MCAL events and/or activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to HCAM and MCAL’s use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities.

Education Format: This program may be delivered in a virtual format if a face-to-face format is impractical, impossible, or illegal.
